Pairing BT phone without middle tray

hey guys,
i have a E46 06 M3 with the same bluetooth and nav system as your X series..

question is i removed the middle tray where theres a button you press to pair your bt phones with the system and replaced it with a cup tray... now theres the same button on my steering wheel and i can NOT use this button to pair my phone.. whats going on ??? i mean when i press it it does the same as the button that was removed from the oem tray ...

some share some light into this.. everytime i get a new phone i have to re-connect the middle tray with the button built into it..

oh BTW how to change pairing code ???

I don't think 06 BMW's have a pairing button, in my 05 X5 the car goes into pairing mode for the first Min+/- you turn it on.

They are not the same, they have the same logo but have different functions (and the same depending on call connection status).

Only the button in the centre console can pair a new phone.

The button on the MFSW is only for answering and disconnecting calls or selecting VR (or last number redial if you don't have VR).

So yes, if you want to pair a new phone (or delete old phones) then you have to replace the console (temperarely).

I believe jochen navcoders can (or could) change pairing code, but why would you want to??

i did ask about this when i got the BT kit for mine, and was told straight up that you cant have the BT module without the centre phone holder (in an X5).... i never use mine, have used the button once to pair, and thats it

Buffboy,

You must have the pairing button. What you can do is buy a pairing button and fit it to your cup holder or tuck it under your cup holder once paired. The button on the wheel is not for pairing, only using the system for voice commands.

The pairing code can't be changed, you need to look in your books to see if you have the bluetooth code listed on the bluetooth card or look at the label on the bluetooth ULF in the boot above your CD player behind the trim.

I've got an M3 too and whilst not in the same state can help you if you get stuck. Send me a PM if need be.
