Bluetooth install problem - I-BUS loop-back
Hi guys,
I'm replacing my GSM with bluetooth. The problem is that I have some special TCU (LINK P/N 84116904906, the antena coax cable goes to TCU instead of the armrest phone) and can't figure out what is its I-BUS pin. I have checked it's DB25 PIN in the trunk and no cable are attached to pin no 22 or 6, where I was supposed to loop-back the I-BUS from 18 ELO adapter. Also, my 18 ELO adapter under armrest has no cable attached to pin 6, where I were supposed to install the 9&6 jumper (I-BUS cable is present on pin 9). Did anyone successfully upgraded from such TCU to bluetooth? If yes - to which pin no should I loop-back the I-BUS from pin no 9 in 18 ELO connector under armrest ? Any tip or help would be REALLY appreciated... |
Check with Martin at bimmernav.com - he should have the conversion cables you need to make this work.

The problem is that I have a little different wiring. Can't loopback the I-BUS because of missing pin N.6, where I was supposed to loopback the I-BUS from pin N.9 with a jumper.(according to Martin's doc). I hoped may be some of you did upgraded from a such wiring as me... |
Hi Foxy,
Welcome to the forum, You don't have to take the i-bus from the 26pin plug, you can take the i-bus feed from anywhere, you are just tapping into a closed network, so adding an extra i-bus device will be OK, the easiest place to take the i-bus from would be the CD changer (the 3 pin plug). It's pinouts are; Clicky 1. Ground (Brown) 2. +12v Switched ignition (Green / Red) 3. I-Bus (White, Yellow) Personally, I wouldn't bother with the TCU, go for a proper ULF, the wiring is much easier and it wont need dealer enabling (some TCU won't work unless they are coded). Rip out the old phone system and replace with a new loom, trust me its a lot easier. I retrofitted BT in mine (from nothing) and it was fairly simple. Clicky HTH |
