Need help with External Antenna

I have just replaced my 01 X5 3.0 no NAV/ no DSP with a 01 X4 4.4 with NAV and DSP. In my 3.0 I installed the bluetooth kit and the eject box. Everything work very well. The external antenna worked very well. Now I moved everything over to the 4.4 and got the bluetooth working and the eject box. Well the antenna strength on the 4.4 isn't nearly as good as the 3.0. Does anyone know what that could be? I did check the connections and it seems to be connected. The cell strength is better in the cradle but not nearly as good as it was before. I don't know where the external antenna is. Now the 4.4 had a factory cell phone installed before. Could this be the issue?

Thanks,

Ron A.

I think the external cell antenna is under the rear spoiler. Define "not as good" i.e. 2 bars compared to 5 before etc...

Greg-

That is correct. With my last X5, I had reception in certain areas. Now I don't. Infact, the phone cuts out in many areas now. So, your example of it used to be 5 bars and now it is to is right on the money.

Hmmm, I have no clue  I'm assuming that you have checked all connections, I think you already did? You may also want to pop off the spoiler and check the integrity of the factory cell antenna. You could also call your cell phone provider and ask them if they have any towers down where your reception is bad. So if you pull the phone out of the cradle, your bars increase??

Greg-

No, the bars decrease if I pull it out of the cradle. The problem is that it isn't as strong as the other X5 I had.

:dunno: That makes it sound like a phone issue and not an X5 antenna issue.
