I have the i870 and it does work with the X5 the only thing is it doesn"t load the phonebook. As far as connecting to the X5's BT yes it does and it does it either automatically when you start the vehicle or it can ask you if it's alright to connect.

Woah there! It dosn't load the phone book? I gotta hear more about that. From what I have read nothing is disabled on this phone. Have you spoken to Nextel about this? What year X5 do you have?

I own a 2005 4.8is and as far as I'm concerned the phonebook doesn't upload onto the vehicle. But if you guys know as to what I should do please fill me in so that I can try it!!! I didn't speak to nextel since this is the 3rd phone I paired ( blackberry 7520 and 7100i - both from nextel ) and none of them has uploaded the phonebook onto the vehicle's phonebook.

Does it give you the option to send the phonebook info manually from the phone to car?

Thanks. I ask for the info because others may have the same phone and X5 that you have and may be able to shed some light on the issue. Knowing how you handled the problem adds to the knowledge database that we all share which makes it easier to solve problems. Thanks for any input you can provide.

New info!!!

I tried to pair the phone with the X5 again to see if I had any luck with the phonebook, unfortunately the phone pairs very well and connection between the X5 and the phone is outstanding, but, when it tries to upload the phonebook it fails and it says phonebook empty!!!! I called Nextel and I was given some info as to manually transfer each one of my contacts through the Bluetooth - select contacts on the phone, press menu, select transfer, select bluetooth, and find devices - but unfortunately this didn't work either the phone does not recognize the X5 as an OBEX (<-- :dunno: ), so that failed as well!!! I did read a post on one of these IDEN/Nextel forums, that the phonebook needs to be smaller than 50 entries in order to upload onto the X5, so if anyone has an i870 with 50 contacts/numbers or less in their phonebook, see if you can upload it and let me know if it works!!!! As for me, I guess I'll just record each contact through the VR module and hope it works!!!!
