delete sms/contact from my car's monitor

Hi, If I delete a sms o contact from my car phone menu (with the right knob) will it only delete from the car or will it actually delete that item from the phone itself?

What phone are you using? Can you not just send youtself a text, and then delete it from the HU and see if it also dissapears from your phone?

With my built in wireless siemens handset, deleteing from either the HU or the handset will mean it dissapears from both.
