Adding Bluetooth to a 2002 X5
 

I just bought a 2002 X5 4.4 (no nav system). It came with a 1000 year old Motorola flip phone and I want to hook up my new V710 through bluetooth. Is this a complicated retrofit? My dealer wants $950 to install it, which seems like a LOT of money for a hands free phone adaptor!

I see you have the Nav system...I don't. Will it still work? Is your V710 from Verizon? I read they don't work, at least according to the Bluetooth page. Also, and this is really dumb (I just got the car today), where is the panel with the CD changer and the bluetooth unit located in the car?

The Bluetooth kit will work with both nav and non-nav vehicles.

I have the V600, not the V710. Unfortunately, Verizon put the kabosh on some key Bluetooth capabilities which limit how well it will work with the BMW Bluetooth module made by Visteon (for the pre-2004's). In general people have gotten the V710 to pair and work but do not get the address book to upload.

The panel for the CD changer and the bluetooth gear is in the rear drivers side compartment.

Thanks. Maybe I'll wait for the new Treo 650 from Verizon...or switch to Cingular/ATT and get it now. It's suppoed to work properly.

Is there a way to retrofit for a NAV system? I'd love to get that in my car...

Yes I saw that article...not for me, that's for sure. I wonder if I could find someone to do it for me and what it might cost...? Bizarre that BMW makes this so difficult. Same for the phone support...
