Help with Bluetooth retrofit

Hi guys, I know someone out there has probably already posted this, but I am new to this group and am sure someone can help.

I recently purchased a Bluetooth retrofit kit from AdvancedAutovations, the kit seems very thorough and the fitting instructions are very helpful and detailed.

Unfortunately the blue 26 pin plug which should be located somewhere in the rear quarter is not there, this is strange as my vehicle was manufactured 08/01 and all other wiring including that for the microphone is all in place.

Until I can find out how to get around this problem, i.e. run new wiring loom, my system is dead in the water, Parag at AdvancedAutovations is looking into it but I thought I would give you guys a shout as well.

Please help

A fellow X5 lover

Greetings, and welcome to X5world.

Here is my experience with the BT retrofit kit from AA - http://www.xoutpost.com/articles.php?...ticle&artid=26

FYI, the DB25 connector in my 2001 X5 is black, not blue, and was located down in the lower well compartment below the black plastic cover piece. Here's a picture of the connector:

Good luck with the install, you are going to love it

Thanks for advice and pictures, Had a look all around rear luggage areas, no sign of this connector anywhere, Parag has got back as well, he now says that the car is not wired for telephone (strange considering microphone cables are in place).

I have now got in contact with Crevier BMW, to see if a wiring loom is available. Does anyone know what part number I am after?

This is seriously starting to mess with my swede now.

Unfortunately all of my experience with these retrofits have been with vehicles that have option S640A, which is the phone prep. Check with your local dealer and ask them if you have this option on your X5 (they can look it up from your VIN).

If I come across some information on this, I'll let you know. Another good forum for Bluetooth issues is http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/bluetooth/ - there are some very knowledgable individuals there that may have an idea of what you may need to do to get this working.

Good luck!!

The kit you may need to buy if your car does NOT have option S640A installed is part # 84 64 0 153 227. BMW listed the price at approximately 750 Euros (without snap-in holder, plus tax) and the installation time is somewhere around 10 hrs. It involves running a new wiring harness (loom) in the vehicle, which is why the installation time is that high.
