Bluetooth address question
Foregive me if this has been answered previously.
I have a 2010 X5d which is paired to a blackberry bold via bluetooth. The names and phone numbers transfer without an issue but the street address information does not transfer. I would like to transfer the street address information via bluetooth in addition to the names and phone numbers so I can use the GPS. Any help is appreciated |
This is a fantastic idea, but I do not think that BMW thought of this. I believe that only the names and numbers transfer. It would be awesome if we got total integration between BT and navigation with address transfer as well. As an aside, do you know if any other BT/nav system (either factory or aftermarket) does this? You may have an original idea.

The iPhone can do it, at least with Google Maps. Google routes is roumoured to be coming to iPhone. I suppose Androids cna do it too.

What I mean is the smart phone can display contact addresses in the mapping and navigation programs. So sadly it is not a new idea. I think TomTom can sync with your outlook contacts. I reckon Pioneer would be the first to offer this in a vehicle system, outside of the forthcoming Android based car systems. |
As you indicated my blackberry shares the addresses internally with it's GPS software but I can't seem to get them into the iDrive.
I have heard that the iPhone will transfer the addresses to the iDrive but am interested if I can have a blackberry bold transfer address information to the iDrive. |
Try OBEX push over bluetooth.
Select a contact and chose "send contact via bluetooth" [or similar]. It sends the contact as a .VCD (Microsoft outlook business card). If as you say the iDrive can accept a VCD from iPhone with address info, Blackberry could work in the same way, since it is the same VCD transfer. |
Thanks I will give it a try!

I tried using the option to send the address book via bluetooth in the options/setup icon. It said preparing addressbook and the indicated the transfer failed and to consult the manual of the bluetooth device.
any other ideas? |
Did you try to send the whole address book? Try sending just one file first!
|
I am not sure I know how to send only one contact?
I did th following on a Blackberry Bold Options icon -> Bluetooth -> options button (next to track ball) -> transfer contacts Using this method there does not appear to be any way to select a single contact. thanks for the help! |
There will be a way to send just one contact, as this is what the system was originally designed for. Imagine you are in a meeting with all the big cheeses.
If you wanted to send your business card to the client, you could do so over bluetooth. You wouldn't want to send your entire contacts folder! Try selecting a single contact and chosing options. |
Within the addressbook you can email or sms a single contact but there are no bluetooth options at all either on the menu or options.

Do you on a copy of the manual for the Bold?
