Callers can't hear me
 

I am finally getting around to completing my TCU installation. Everything is installed, antenna, TCU and new microphone. I can hear the callers but they can't hear me. I can't put in an voice commands but can hear the instructions. I took the microphone down to make sure it was installed correctly and it appears to be in place properly. I have one question: does the TCU connect to the Microphone? Right now I have the purple/black cable attached, the blue tooth antenna and the bundle of cables at the bottom of the TCU. Am I missing something?

What is the year and model of your car?

Many cars in the 2000 - 2002 model years had additional wiring for a separate voice recognition module (the "SES module"). That was in-line between the telephone module and the microphone. If your car has the SES wiring, then you need to get the SES jumper to make your microphone work.

I have a 2004 build in Sep03. I don't believe that I have a SES plug.

Correction: I found an SES plug and jumper in place. I guess I have to trace the wires for the microphone and see if something is not plugged in correctly.

Use a multimeter set to resistance to detect short or opens on the mic wires.
