V710 with V1.40R and X5 4.8is 2006
 

Hi friends:

I just received my X5, 4 days ago, and till now I can not syncronize the phonebook. The phone is already paired with the X5, I can dial number, dial name, add name, delete name, etc, with the voice command but the phonebook is not transfered.

What I need to do ? It is something else that I need to do ?

Another weird situation is that after few minutes when I start the engine and the phone is automatically linked with the X5, the Menu "Phone" in the Onboard Computer goes from enable to disable without touching anything.

the dealer told me that this is because the v710 is not compatible with the X5 2006, but I dont believe that, because the software version was already upgraded to 1.40R that it supposed to work with the bmw module.

Please any help will be appreciated.

Drop the V710 and get the e815 instead

But this mean that there is no other guy on this forum that sucessfully tranfer the phonebook of a v710 to his X5 ??

It is mandatory to drop the v710 and get a e815 ??

I have the V600, V551 and V3 Razr and all work flawlessly with the BMW Bluetooth system.

Look at the various links on this page under the V710 and you will see the host of issues that most people have with this phone. Very few have been satisfied with it. http://www.xoutpost.com/file-bmw_bt_phones.htm When it gets to the point where people band together and file a class action lawsuit, that spells trouble in my book.

The e815, from the reports I've read, seems to be a better Bluetooth phone.

I have the 710 and I am able to use the bluetooth. I have to double check the phone book though. I'll check tomorrow when I go to work tomorrow.
I agree with UCrew though, the 815 is a better phone all around.

Your problem is the Verizon software you have. Not the phone itself.

I have a V710 that works fine, transferring phonebook etc. The biggest difference is that I have an Alltel phone, not Verizon.

That's a fair point. The V710 was a good phone before Verizon forced Motorola to neuter it :rolleyes:

I'm sure UCrew can elaborate more on this, but Verizon made Motorola disable a lot of features that were designed as part of the phone, most notably is the bluetooth functionality. Verizon wants to make sure you buy your ringers and such from them, not just copy them yourself. My v710 has been working flwlessly with my '06 X5 - phonebook and all. My phone is supplied by Telus (Canadian) so it may not have the same issues as the Verison phone.
