Stumped with Bluetooth retrofit

My car's an 07/2001 3.0D Sport, and it came with the Motorolla/BMW phone built into the armrest and Nav. I want to upgrade to Bluetooth. I took some shots of what I have at the moment:

I originally planned to follow this install based on having an SA620 SES module, but after checking the part no shown below (84216907520) I have and SA632

I did some further research and found this guide, however I'm still baffled based on not really knowing the bits I already have.

Any suggestions?

Not sure which is the 54 pin connector or, more likely on mine, the DB25 (the following aren't my pics):

Sweet, you have the PITA-to-find DB25 to 54 pin in place, and a ULF by the looks of it (Cream FAKRA=Bluetooth). So you have most of the kit. You probably just need to plug the ULF into the 54 pin and start pairing.

I don't know what the blue and white FAKRA are, DAB perhaps?

What makes you think you have a motorola setup? What have you got up front? Do you have the BT antenna under the armrest? Do you have a 25 pin MQS under the phone to plug in an eject box? Black/Purple FAKRA=GSM.

Your car is loaded.

Those last 2 pics aren't of mine mate — it's the top ones that are mine...

Ah right!. The SES module is voice control. It's a blakc box 1/2VHS size. Doesn't really matter if you have it or not.

The ULF does voicecalling+nav voice, the TCU does voice calling. Both are gimmicks.

You can't have an SES module and TCU/ULF both on at the same time, it gets confused. Either get/build an SES jumper plug (to jump the audio and mic) or use Navcoder + Resler interface (£50 ish) to disable voice in the ULF/TCU.

What you need to check is under the eject box. You are hoping to find a black FAKRA GSM cable and a 26 pin black quadlok (MQS) connector. This means you can drop in an eject box. Really early cars had a DB-something-else connector, or no connector at all.

In the boot, you are either looking at building (£15 ish) or buying (£60+US shipping) a DB25 to 54 pin adapter,
a ULF (GEN13) or TCU (Post mid 2004 - don't be fooled by BT logos, go for build dates) (£200ish),
a BT antenna (£25),
a bit of cable terminated in FAKRA and some brackets. (£40 all in)

Well this is the phone I have:

And this is what's below:

I found this guide to building the DB25 to 54 pin adapter

That SES to 54pin is pretty damn cool! There is a DB25 to 54 pin too.

When you feel like it, dig out what's under the centre console. I *think* there's another set of connectors under there for an eject box. Google images may be a good first port of call.

For the ULF, Gen13 is reqd for best iPhone compatibility. An eject box or pairing button is mandatory. For the TCU, paring needs neither, is accomplished via the steering wheel. Try to get a 2006 X5/X3 TCU for best internal software.

I also think in Americaland eBay you can buy a V60 BT plug in adapter for $200 ish. Yes you have V50 there but the socket may well be the same if not the cradle.

Found the Mototola thing here

Or could I simply get an iPhone snap-in adapter like this

http://mydigitallife.blogs.com/.a/6a...6ad6337970b-pi

I know it's not BT, but at least I'll be able to use my phone in the car?

Does look like there is another connector under the console for that GSM booster box, which is reasonable news. Now need to find out if it's 26 pin MQS to suit and eject box or something else.

Snap in adapter only does a-chargin', a-pairin' and antenna duties.

Ah, so it wouldn't 'connect' the iphone to the comms the way the current one does for the V50?

Will have a rummage...
