BMW iPhone 4 Snap In part numbers

Shamelessly stolen from another forum.

Hi guys,

Just to let you know that BMW are currently testing the new iPhone 4 cradle and they expect to have them out within the next couple of weeks. I know that dealerships are taking orders for them but prices have seemed a bit steep in comparison to the 3G/GS ones.

Part Numbers are:

P/N 84 21 2 199 389 - Bluetooth only
P/N 84 21 2 199 390 - Bluetooth & 6NF (plays music too)
P/N 84 21 2 199 392 - Bluetooth, music and video - I believe this is an option with the new iDrive systems from 2011.

I've seen Cotswalds selling it for £82 or a dealer in Kent selling them for £70 delivered on Ebay so it pays to shop around if your in the market for one of these.

Thanks for posting that info but I wonder about this one "P/N 84 21 2 199 390 - Bluetooth & 6NF (plays music too)"??

I have 2008 X5 with 6NF (and bluetooth) but I doubt this snap-in adapter would work for me.

Actually, what am I talking about  There's no point in buying an iPhone 4 snap-in adapter when I'll be getting an iPhone 5 in a few months!

I can't believe that BMW has taking so long to get the iPhone 4 adapter to market. My "dremmeled" (filed down) iPhone 3G snap-in adapter holds my iPhone 4 just fine but I have to remove the iPhone 4 case first :(

About 0.1% chance.

What years does this fit?

I think they will only work on cars with the iDrive tech in them, and certainly in the UK these adapters are out of stock until at least June. Every Dealer got 5 of the basic ones and now they're backordered again. You need options 633 or 644 plus SA6NF and SA6FL to use the media adapter according to the list I've seen. The basic adapter will work with 6FL.

Reading on the web there are a lot of Owners who don't have 6NF because in the UK it's not called 'Smartphone Integration' and has been missed. BMW say no retrofits!!

LoL. These haven't even made it to the U.S. yet. By June, the iPhone 5 will be out and the iPhone 4 snap-in will be old news. What a waste.

6 new on eBay right now from a dealer.

Does anyone have any news on a release date - specifically for 84 21 2 199 392 (phone/music/media)? My dealer tells me by the end of this month, but other dealers are telling me by May.

Thanks.

Sorry forgot to add this to my prior message... does anyone know if the iPhone 3G snap-in adapter for phone/music/media (part # 84 21 9 229 004) would work with the iPhone 4 if I use an extension cable to plug the iPhone 4 into the adapter? Seems that if it works, it makes more sense than waiting several months for the iPhone4 392 adapter to finally be released by BMW.
