apparently verizon let OBEX be enabled to counter balance the lack of a CF card on the phone. There's an update for the RAZR V3c coming out in january. It's suppose to Add Viberate than Ring and An mp3 player as well as a couple other tid bits. People are skeptical about if the update will get rid of the OBEX.

I paired my V3c fine with my X (06 3.0i)
May i ask what SMS is?

hmm... interesting. I was about to switch to Verizon specifically to get the new Razor but decided against it when I found out OBEX was disabled. I had heard rumors that the first few thousand were shipped enabled by mistake, and clearly that seems to hold true here.

Does anyone have any insight as to whether Verizon is going to disable it in the future over the wire, or if they decided to keep it enabled at the last minute on purpose etc?

I just don't want to sign a 2 year agreement with Verizon and then have it disabled on me...

Get the phone and try it, you have 15 days to return it.
