Bluetooth phone with Verizon/Sprint
I have check the x5World bluetooth compatibility pages (thanks UCrewX5!).
Ideally, I want a CDMA bluetooth phone which can transfer address book info into the X5. Looks like I have two choices : 1) go for the hard to find SE T608 (rangerfan had good experience); but not sure that the text messaging works on Verizon. I need text messaging. 2) Mot. 710 (and hack its software, yikes) Not much of a selection :dunno: I have a further Q for the bluetooth experts. Since the standard issue V710 does not transfer the phonebook; can you manually add phone #s to the X5 address book and then make use of the nav. screen dialing and voice dialing ? Thanks for any input. |

No need to hack the V710.
Just go to Verizon Wireless and upgrade the V710 firmware to 1.40OR. However, all the newer V710 come with 1.40OR. If you have a 2004 X5, you probably can retrofit the -993 BT/Assist module which works perfectly with the V710 with 1.40OR firmware. If you have a 2005 X5 with Assist, then you probably already have the -993 BT/Assist module. You just need a V710 with 1.40OR. I've retrofitted my '04 M3 with the -993 and the V710 works perfectly. Don't get me wrong, the Visteon modules are great. They just have an compatibility issue with the V710. |
Many thanks guys. (UCrewX5, you responded in 4 MINUTES on a Sat. night !!! Your dedication to X5World is amazing !!)
My X5 is '00. I was thinking of going with the AdvancedAutovations retro-fit, I'll try and find out from them if they use the -933/993 or Visteon module. Doc Kewl : are there two parts, the -933 and the -993 ? You mention both numbers but I guess this might be a typo ?? I am also looking at the (new'ish, much cheaper) Parrot kit and figuring if I can get this to work - although without integrated CallerID/address book. Of course, if I go thise route, I'll be pleased to prepare a Parrot install doc. for X5World. PC |
Advanced Autovations supply a ULF module whose part number ends in '552'.
Furthermore, they says that the V710 address book does not transfer with any BMW ULF module - huh ? |
