Install was a snap, thanks X5 community

I wanted to publicly thank a few folks here that made my day yesterday.

I had a free hour yesterday afternoon and decided to start the install on the Bluetooth kit I recently picked up. Thanks to the write-up and additional tips supplied by IFlyX5, the install was so simple I was shocked. He offered support if I needed it, and that is very much appreciated. I thought I would only get half of it done but in roughly an hour I was finished. On my 07/02 X5, the harness for the eject box was right up inside the bottom armrest cover making it very quick to get the oddment tray out and eject box back in. Sir IFlyX5, you're the man, thanks again for everything.

My test phone (work cell) LG 325, paired up and worked perfectly on the first try, and I made an outbound call and received and inbound call with no problems. Sounds good. Sprint has not unlocked OBEX on that model so I can't do phonebook and SMS yet. I have not chosen what my new personal cell phone will be. Love the in-car caller ID so I can ignore my boss when he calls. The voice recognition works better than my home automation system, she actually knows what I am saying.

Thanks to X5world, I got tons of info on the Bluetooth install as well as a lot of other answers to X5 questions. Big thanks again for the continuous hard work by UCrewX5 and Drex. You guys ROCK.

Just feeling the love to day and wanted to share my appreciation for these great contributors to an awesome community.

Congrats NCX, it must be nice to have bluetooth in the car now. I want to retrofit my wife's X5 to have bluetooth, but that would mean giving up BMW assist. And since I find BMW assist as such a great service for my wife both for safety and in function, I'm not willing to give it up...they've got to come up with a part with both soon...I mean, the 05's have it don't they?

Yes, the 2005's have both Assist and Bluetooth.

Reportedly, retrofitting the BT/Assist combo units will also work on 2004 X5s that currently have BMW Assist and were produced from 3/04 up to 10/04.
