Spring Detailing

Took advantage of the beautiful weather to give Seabuscuit her annual spring detailing, 7½ hours over two days.

Here's what I did:

I've been using Zaino exclusively for the past three years, so I skipped the Dawn wash and begin the process with…

Z7 wash

Z18 Claybar (with a capful of Z7 and lots of water mixed in a spray bottle, liberally applied)

Z7 wash

Z-AIO on, Z-AIO off
Z6 Gloss Enhancer

Z2Pro (with ZFX) on, Z2Pro (with ZFX) off
Z6 Gloss Enhancer
Repeat this process, three times.

Z-CS Clear Seal

Z8 Grand Finale Spray Seal

For the rims...

Z2Pro on, Z2Pro off
Z6 Gloss Enhancer
Multiply by two.

After I washed the wheel wells, I gave them a blast with Griot's Undercarriage Spray.

Polished Remus exhaust tips with Noxon #7 Metal Polish

Dressed the tires with two coats of Z16 Tire Gloss, and the exterior trim with Griot's Vinyl & Rubber Dressing

Stoner's Invisible Glass on the windows

I had treated the leather with Spinneybeck recently, so I just went over the interior with a damp microfiber cloth, and finished with a thorough vacuuming.

This is the first time I used Z-AIO and Z-CS, and I was extremely pleased with both products. Z-AIO contains an "emulsifying cleaner and very mild abrasive." Applied after the claybar treatment, it provides excellent surface preparation for the Z2Pro and subsequent layers.

I'll maintain the results with a weekly quick detailing with Z7, Z6, and Z8, which takes less than one hour. Every 4 weeks or so, I'll add a coat of ZPro (with ZFX) after the Z7, and top with Z6 and Z8. I may include a coat of Z-CS, too.

My 132's sustained a bit of road rash and are going in for repair, hence the 18" Style 69's. I hope it's not too soon to put the 132's on, given the weather in New England.

I can't say enough great things about Zaino and Wayne’s Towels. Outstanding products, outstanding customer service. In fact, I sent Sal Zaino an email on Friday evening, asking if it was OK to use Z8 after Z-CS. Sal responded within an hour, giving me the go-ahead.

Thanks to Silver 5, I just ordered a set of clear side markers on eBay, to eliminate the "golf ball textured" look. Also, again thanks to the fine folks on X5world, I just ordered a set of Bosch Icons.

Thanks for looking.
