Brake Dust- do cleaners strip wax?

I understand what your saying!! I have been there to. I find that the more I experiment with products the more time I will save in the future because I will find one product that is really good! The michelin stuff that I mentioned above works well. basically you wash the brake dust with the hose. No towels no scrubbing etc... so 10min vs 2 min add that up over 40 years of car washing!! But to each their own I guess?

shit if it saves me any amount of time while washing my X it's worth the 8 bucks. I have found that P21S is an amazing product that requires little to no scrubbing. I have the advantage of having a pressure washer at my disposal though so that helps. I think i'll give that michelin repellant a try just for kicks.

So heres the outcome. Used the michelin product on rims then drove until dirty. I hosed most of the brake dust away, then used meguires rim cleanerand a soft brissled paint brush and just hosed when completed and rime are sparkling clean. Hardly any effort with the paint brush!!! thats the end result for me!!

when i had a audi a4 i was on the fourms for it... and they did a test with the wax on the wheels.. and it ended up the wax on the wheels didnt help... the wax melts because of the heat generated from the brakes.. and it made the dust stick to it... and was more hard to just wash it off with out rubbing it off...

That makes sense, but does the wax protect the wheel at all from pitting?

i dont think they went that far... anyone want to try that as a project.. might take a little lol..

http://www.pylonhq.com/michelin/faq.htm#g18 I got it at Canadian Tire Great price too! The wax on wheels might protect the paint aswell. But if you keep them clean then the michelin stuff works great! I just apply it every other wash! Takes no time at all!
