Engine Detail: 2003 X5 4.4i with 100,000 miles

Hello everyone,

Today I did a silver 2003 4.4i X5 that just hit 100,000 miles. The owner is about to get rid of it and wanted a final detail. It was actually in good shape so it was mostly routine, but the engine had never been cleaned so that is what I wanted to show.

Comments are welcome!

Thanks for looking!

Very impressive difference. Before cleaning did you cover or protect any of the engine components? And did you use a low pressure water source to rinse? I'm getting ready to do mine using a Griot's product - 2004 4.4 and am scared to death. Thanks

thats a nice job you did there, i was wondering what product did you use and is it dangerous to just clean the engine area with a hose? i sometimes just wipe areas in the engine because i do not know what will happen if i do too much lol

you dont need to be scared of anything! the e53 engine is very covered. i used the easiest setting on my pressure washer and put a mf towel over any exposed wires. dont stress if you get a little water on the wires, but i had a leaf blower to dry right after i was done degreasing everything to ensure water didnt sit anywhere for a long period of time
