So its cold out, now what?

Its getting cold out, no more hand washing for me unless I can get someone to tell me their secret for washing by hand @ 40 degrees? If you don't do it by hand, what are you doing?

i know over on autopia.net they talk about using zip carwash rinseless shampoo. you mix it in a bucket of warm water and wash the car. there is no rinsing needed. i have a friend that lives in a condo that has tried it and it works well for his needs as well.

its a car wash made for rv's... zip wax carwash... you can really use any of the one-step rv washes also and wash in the garage.

No Xpert here, and it's not fun in the 40s, but it is doable...I use any brand of good wash, very warm water in the bucket, and replenish the very warm H2O&suds a couple of times. I use "fishmonger" gloves slipped into a sheepskin mitt for the body panel cleaning just like on a normal temp day. The gloves are closed cell neoprene, much like my SCUBA stuff, quite flexible, espc. when broken in, and can be had at any large sporting goods/hunting/fishing type joint. An example is in this link; try neoprene fishing gloves in your search engine...you'll see lots. Joints like Dick's sometimes have them, too:
http://www.tackledirect.com/shimano-fishing-gloves.html

After gently using mitt and suds, I rinse well, use the backpack leaf blower to toss most of the sheeted water, and then, with the neo gloves on, a couple of good all cotton towels lifted from 30 yrs of Hotel/motel living on the road for the final, gentle wipe.

By this time hands are cold, and detail stuff is prob. out of the question, but it is doable. Sometimes, on a decent day, I hit the "Qtr" car wash first to power off a layer of crud followed by the hand wash back home in the drive.
I'm convinced a good Zaino job adds in the "release" of crud when washed and allows the paint to look good, even through the winter months.
My Qtr is up.

I love this line...and live by it. I have collected so many Mariott towels...I could open up a towel store. Those all white towels are great to wash, wax and dry the cars with. Reached Mariott Platinum back in September...so..I get to collect new towels frequently...

Phil, glad you got a chuckle out of that! I Had a huge collection...time, too many washings and too much crap wiped off of my M'ycles have taken their toll. I still have an "adequate" supply however. My faves were Marriott's, any Ritz-Carlton and the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo, lol! I have not been in any Big name hotel/motel except for low budget joints, since I bailed out and got away from the whipping post, 5 1/2 yrs ago!

It is amazing what a diff tude one has when that fat Expense Acct is gonzo, (or, a way to write it off.) Lol!
