I got a pair of these solar charged cameras, on sale for $50 off until May 27:

It's only $10 more than getting the second camera without the display and power adapter. The add on camera also only has half the battery capacity.
It works well enough. Instead of mounting the display, I have it between the row of buttons with PDC, etc. and the gearshift, sitting on a non slip mat.
My biggest concern is that it would be easy to steal the cameras. They are just held on by two phillips screws. I'm considering getting some security screws to make it a little bit more of a challenge. The plates also protrude a fair amount which makes the front one look odd. The rear hatch release is awkward to get to. I usually use the remote, so not an issue for me. There are adapters with the kit to lower the plate about an inch, but I didn't use them.
My 04 4.4i mainly sits in the garage. After charging the cameras and doing one trip, they are still showing full charge after one week garaged. I have the switched power coming from the glove box using the flashlight charger slot with a 12V adapter connected.
Image quality is 720p.
So far, so good. With Costco, you're not limited to a 30 day return which is one reason I got them to try.
