Oil Seperator TIS / Part #

Hello,

One of the major issues we have on this forum every winter is people with defective Oil Seperator valves due to condensation getting into the the valve and causing it to break. BMW has released a TIS on this and I was wondering if you guys might be able to post the TIS and the associated parts cost in order to fix this problem.

The TIS # is SI-11-01-04 ..... if there's any chance you have an electronic copy to post and then could post the cost of the parts, that would be great. We'd like to make it a 'sticky' at the top of the forum as this is an important kit that any X5 that sees cold weather should have installed.

Thanks!

Chris

BTT

Just checking if anyone has any info before we head in to winter. Seeing Snow on the ground is making me ponder doing this repair sooner rather then later...

Thanks

Russ

Call and ask them to post it..they don't check in here much.

Definitely do have it changed out. The oil separator in our 3.0i failed last winter. When I opened the hood to check the burning smell, there was a small fire on the exhaust manifold. 13 other BMW's were towed in that day, and the part was on backorder for sometime. Our SA told me that a few vehicles needed new engines as a result of the failed oil separator. Fortunately we had extended warranty, because not only did they have to replace the oil separator, they also had to completely remove and clean the intake manifold.
