Saw this on E46Fanatics, and that member copied it from a GTO forum, so I decided to spread the word to XOUTPOST!

12/27/09 Special

Tomorrow 12/27/09 AutoZone will run a special on motor oil.

Any Mobil 1 full synthetic 5qt + mobile 1 oil filter for $21 .

2 orders limit per customer but if you know autozone employees they will be more than happy to hook you up without a limit.

basic Mobil One does not meet BMW spec, you need the Euro 0W formula.

really? mobil 1 and castrol is recommended by BMW, no?

it doesn't matter, autozone doesn't carry oil filters for our X5 anyway.

A vast majority of Mobil1 sold in the US does not meet BMW specs. Why? Most of the Mobil1 products sold in the US are cracked synthetic blends. US has less strict guidelines and thus the product can still be labeled 'synthetic'.

I would advise a different choice in oils or use one of the european flavors. I am an avid fan of the Shell Rotella T. Great oil and meets or exceeds all of BMWs specs AND also heavy diesels.
