Recommend me some tires for my 2006 X5

I rotated the tires this fall and when I did, I felt that it started pulling to the right some. Tire looked fine when I rotated them, pressure was fine, I couldn't nail it down to why it was pulling. It wasn't bad so I let it go, knowing I'd replace them due to tread wear this summer anyway.
I was checking air pressure yesterday and noticed something sticking off the tire. I got my phone and snapped a few pics and found the sidewall separating from the tire, badly. I check the pressure once a month and the tire was not like this last month. My guess is that it started to fail internally, which is why I felt the pulling, and then it finally gave out. Funny thing is it's still holding air. I plan on making an appointment for this week and limping it to the tire shop to get some new tires on it.
Now this is my first time buying tires for a SAV. I normally buy lower profile sports tires for cars. I live in Portland and we get a lot of rain, and some snow/ice every noe and then, getting more frequent in recent years though.
I'm going to go through discount tire, I can't stand Les Schwab and I'm not buying a costco membership just for tires. I looked into buying tires from tire rack and having them installed locally, but it comes up to about $100 more than everything all said and done with the 3 year warranty at discount tire.

But have read mixed reviews on them, particularly half as good treadwear as advertised and weak sidewalls. Overall I'm trying to stay as cheap as possible with the best all weather performance. Out the door I'm ~$750 on these there, I definitely want to keep it under $1,000, so under $200 tire.
I know, I know, do summer tires and have a separate set of snow tires. Not really an option or practical since snow is intermittent here and we rarely go up to the mountain. We have cable chains if we need to if it gets too bad for AWD+All seasons.
So, from discount tire's selection, what should I get? I just have standard size 17" rims on my 06 X5 with a 3.0 and TPMS.
