20" Tire Wear

My E70 with 20" tires has about 3500 miles- The front tires have cupping on the outer edge. It went back to the dealer and they wanted to charge me for an alignment. Both tires have even cupping. Does anyone experience this? They have made the ride at low speeds quite noisy too.

I don't have the E70 manual/warranty book in front of me,
but in previous years' models, it was a "call" by the stlr;
most reports, from my fading memory, indicated that the
selling stlr would do what was necessary on those "early-on
adjustments". The cupping could be alingment and/or horrible
wheel balance; regardless, it is unacceptable in a new car
with 3500 miles, even if you are booging up and down Park Ave
trying to time the stop lights, daily ;>).

I'd lean on them politely and have them get the sucker back
in shape and maybe offer some serious allowance for new front
tires.
GL and let us know your outcome.

They are giving you the run around. I would complain up and down management at the stealer, then BMWNA. Should be warranty item!

Thanks for the advice - I have never owned summer tires before and didnt know if this was typical. How many miles should i expect from these tires? The rubber seams much softer than all seasons.

If that doesn't work, contact your local BMWCCA chapter for assistance.
They will contact the dealer or BMWNA on your behalf.
