staggered 20" wheel size setup

does it really provide for betting handling with a larger rear tire or is it just for looks really? You cannot rotate either setup since 20's require directional tires anyway right?

I am looking at these from wheels and caps, where is the best place to get a inexpensive (but not shitty) tire to wrap them in?

These rims require 275/40/20 front and 315/35/20 rear.

Do I need to have my air ride suspension adjusted when I put these on (I have a 2000 BMW X5 4.4i)? Something I have heard about DIS re-programming or something. Don't want a big ugly gap in my wheel well.

thx!

i got moved, another reason i was asking is because tirerack has a special running, $100 of a set of Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport Blackwall but they are only available in 275/40/20 (they have a runflat model for 315/35/20) and they are currently on backorder.

Their site also says that they are OEM BMW tire. A set of 275's could be had for about 700 bones and these tires seem to have gotten decent reviews.

You can put on non directional tires do they exist on the rims no problem. I wouldn't rotate 315's with 275's. The reason why we have so wide tires out back is to keep the tail from coming around in slippery conditions/emergency situations. It also improve handling in general.
Going to a 20x10.5 or 20x10 all around setup is fine though. You will increase your oversteer though, but most likely without completely dialing out the factory understeer safe behavior.

i have always heard that wider is better. but also those 315 tires are more expensive. So like what is the point of running a really wide rim up front then? And what does it look like?

Please explain the factory understeer thing a little more too please.

I hope to make some kind of decision by the end of the week as I am ready to buy. I have to get my beasties with snow tires off of there lol, shit it's 115 degrees outside.

It looks like WAC only offers 20x9.5/10.5" or 20x9.5/9.5" packages, though I have not talked to them over the phone yet to see if 20x10.5/10.5" is an option, I am sure it is.

so... what is the BEST way to go bro?

315 up front is probably fine, some people have stated possible increase regarding hydroplanning... I don't know. What I know is that I can't get the rear end loose for sheeeit! The 315's grip like nobody else's business. If you run 315's all around then your car will grip hard!

I personally think the 275's suck and the 315's are overkill, so somewhere around there has to be the right balance.

Most cars will understeer out of the factory for safety purposes so cars don't spin out of control easily. With that much tire out back the car will not lose rear traction easily. It makes it for a safer car, one that goes straight! In addition, traction control will prevent you from pushing the car. When it's on, you can probably drive the car at 70% of its overall ability.

Just so you know I have been looking for a set of wheels and tires myself, and that has been going on for weeks and I spent countless hours searching what could be run on this car. Long and tedious task it is!

Look at your budget as well. Whatever you do, you are not very likely to go wrong. And you can still resell your stuff if it doesn't work out for you.

I don't think i can deal with probably fine for more money, especially when i can't see what it looks like in person. Also WAC wants fifty more bucks for 4 rims in 10.5".
