Can't find Snow tires for my X5 (E70 with Sport)

I checked on the tirerack.com site for some snow tires (snow and ice - not performance) and there doesnt appear to be anything available. I have the stock 19" rims and appears the standard size should be a 255/50R19 but the only thing available is the Scorpions but there are on close out and "less than 2 available". Everything else shown is a performance tire or 18". Any other options?

:xoutpost:

Many posts about that on this forum. Suggest searching.

I have E70 with Sport and, after looking at the limited options for run-flat, went with the BMW OEM winter wheel package. There were only two options on tirerack.com, at the time, and they didn't work out much cheaper than buying BMW's package.

If you're prepared to give up on run-flats for winter, you have more choices.

Definitey ok with no run flats, but didnt even see an option for that or not on tirerack.com. Am I missing something there? We just need them for winter skiing as we dont get snow in the city, but are on the slopes a lot. Would prefer not having to get a new set of rims.

Aren't those a Winter Performance tire as opposed to a Snow/Ice Tire?

Low profile tires are almost always "performance" oriented with good ice traction but limited "deep" snow capability compared to the snow/ice or "studless" snow tires.

Are low profile tires the only ones that will fit on my X5 then? Just wondering why I can't find a 255 wide snow tire for my 19" wheel.
