22" wheels and don't really like
Hi there everyone. I purchased a set of 22" Asanti wheels. They are 22 x 10.5 all around with 285/35/22 tires. I mounted them today and the rear don't fill up the wheel well as much as I would like. I don't understand how the 20" wheels that I had on filled up the wheel well so much more. They were 265/40/20 in front and 315/35/20 in rear. I realize that the tire is wider on the rear from my 20" wheels than it is from my 22" wheels but they are both 10.5 in rear so I don't understand why so much different. I guess my question here is, would I be able to get a wider tire in the rear fill up the wheel well or is there a difference in the wheel width of the 20" (4.8is style) wheels than the Asanti wheels?
Thanks in advance to anyone who chimes in. |

Maybe you need rear wheel spacers?

How thick could I get a set of spacers on the rear and still have the bolts grab good? Any ideas? Thanks.

It's probably the offset if the width is the same and the wheel looks significantly more narrow. You need less offset wheel or big spacer, and depending on how big that could be bad. My mechanic said he doesn't recommend anything more than 10mm but I've seen guys run 25mm (granted it was on a gutted MkII Golf lol). Good luck.

I'm thinking I need at least a 20mm. More like a 25mm spacer because it needs to come out about 1". Has anyone done this before? Would this be a good idea? Thanks again.

99.75 mm --> sidewall height of your 22's
110.25 mm --> sidewall height of your 20s' That is why.

The height is not the problem. I love the height. It is how far the wheel comes out that is a problem for me. It doesn't fit flush with my quarter panel.

You are completely right RC. They tuck and I don't like that either. I have a 4.4i and they still tuck. Did they tell you if they were a different offset in front than the rear? They are great looking wheels but I am going to end up putting spacers on mind as well. What size spacers will you be using and where do you plan to purchase them from? Also, what size tire are you running in the rear? Just curious as to input. Thanks.
