Big Brake Kit upgrade?

Hello,

I'm planning to upgrade my stock brake kits to big brake kit, since I have bigger wheel than OEM wheels.
I checked Brembo and stoptech, but want to hear feedbacks from other brands also.
any other recommendation??

Thanks for inputs!

on bavauto.com, there is a brembo big brake kit
it will cost you around $6000 for front and rear, but it pays off

you should also think about putting the 4.8 exhaust tips on.

Brembo is IMO the leader in BBK upgrades, you cannot go wrong with one of their kits. They are race proven, have a great history and amazing reputation as the best brake upgrades on the market. With that said, we also do a lot of Rotora kits for customers that want something different and want to save a bit on a BBK. Both are perfectly good options, just two different brand offerings.

Brembos are the way to go.

Stoptechs are great, but the front Brembo BBK is 8 pot and is a bigger rotor, not that you really need it, but its what I would do.

I was planning on doing the Brembos also, but my wife is gonna take the X5, so there is not point.

The owner of my local shop has them on his black X5, and they look stunning.

Are you more inerested in the look of a big brake kit or the performance? You would have to be driving the X pretty hard to get the full advantage of the Big brake kit. The Brembo set is actually over $7,000 for front and rear at Bav Auto. You can get some 4 piston Stop Techs for the front for around $2,600 to $2,800. I would immagine that would be enough brake for just about anyone driving a X5. Here is a link for the Stop Techs. They also have a great reputation and are used on the Turner Motorsports BMW race cars, which have been very dominant over the past few years. I would have to say that a $7,000 brake package for an X5 would be overkill, but if you are really into the look of a big brake kit all the way around and don't mind spending the money then go for it.

Make sure to upgrade your spare after you do the BBK. Else, you'll be in a big surprise when there's a flat.

FSETH,

I'm half and half, since I have big wheels (22"), I can tell that I hit my brake harder.
That's the most reason why I was looking for BBK upgrade.
Thanks for the link and inputs.

dkl,

I didn't think about that at all,
I'll keep that mind once I upgrade my brake system.
Thank you.
