4 Wheel Alignment

Just put on a new set of Lattitude Tour HP's on my '04 X5 Sport. Will be taking it in on Friday for the stealer to do an alignment. Have read some posts regarding the rear setup and ways to minimize the inner wheel wear. Any suggestions outside of the OEM setup? If you do go outside the OEM setup what are the effects / downside / etc?

Have you considered doing a alignment with a Indy tuner ?
I find my tuner tends to dial things in a bit better.

Does the dealer do it in house or subs it

Have considered, but have a great dealer (and more importantly relationship with the service advisor) and have a service coupon which will reduce the price. Does it inhouse on brand new equipment.

Dial it in ... insight?

There's not a set setting....variable for every car....hell, your alignment will change a bit the minute those sandbags come out. Road test, etc.....I've never had a better alignment than the my indy.

It's not about price or the machine for me.......it's the operator/wrench monkey. If the machine is not calibrated on a consistent basis, alignments are slightly off as well.

YMMV, and I there are things the dealership has like the K.I.S.S system that ties into the SAI if I recall, but I never really read into that whole thing...

Again, whether you have active steering or not. I do not know if special tools are required for that.

I'm just happy with my alignments on the John Beam Visualiner.
