refurbishing alloys, how?

Hi all, okeee replaced my 19inch alloys with 18s OEM, damn things looked like they had a coat of primer on the inside which was flaking at time of installing tires and this casued my tires to have a less than perfect flush fit causing air leaks....garage used bead sealer to sort this out.....looking at my other original alloys thta I kept they looked the same....! anyone out there know what I need to ask for in terms of a decent paint/technique to get them back to original condition? paint shops out here arent too good at this type of thing so I need to go equipped with info on what i really want done and how? not sure how resilient these Al Mg alloys are to acid dips etc?any tips would be great, back in the uk they know what they are doing, out here hmm no comment, so any tips would be great
