Lightbulb 285 60 18 Tires

I have an 2001 3.0 5 spd. It is geared too low, so I wanted to put the biggest tire possible on to correct the gearing and give the X a unique look.

I decieded on the Fierce ST 285 60 18. The tires fit perfect and look good.

Does anyone have a good idea about the effect on my MPG that is displayed? My asumption was that it would be higher than indicated, but I am not sure by how much.

It's a Goodyear brand...looks pretty good. I hear you on the high gear'd
3.0 5 Spd, lol!

A cursory comparo shows ~7+% less wheel revs, at cruise, all things
being equal. Not sure if that really translates to more than a few hundred
engine rpms, at cruise, but worth a try.

That is some huge sidewall....the biggest I've eve seen on an X5. I'm not so sure this is a good idea to try to increase gearing on your X.

Why might you think that its not a good idea? It has served its purpose with no down side that I am aware of.
