Upgraded to 214 Rims Problems / Questions

I recently purchased a set of 214 rims off an x6 for my x5.

Brand new tires Continental Run Flats.
I had them mounted balanced etc. Had to bore out the center .1mm for the rears to get em to fit.

These are the first pair of 20's I have ever owned on any car.
The drive is smooth etc until I hit a bump then I hear a low rattling sound off the back.

First I thought it was my plate but thats secure now and I still hear it. Its getting very annoying.

Also I heard that the MPH reading will be wrong on my speedometer. Anyone else have this issue?

I love the rims but the noise is getting to me any one?

the noise was probably there just more pronounce now with the harder ride, but why didn't you get the wheels for an X5? specially now that lots of people are upgrading to other models.

I got a really sweet deal for them. Couldn't pass it up.

I was thinking its maybe the tail gate rubbing together?

Hmm is possible the hinge maybe loose as is been know to happen or one of the exhaust tips, this could cause noise the way you describe it. maybe others will chime in. unfortunately the E70 does have is fair share of rear rattles.

I’m also going for 214s from an X6, also because the deal is too good to pass up. Preparing to rebore as you did. What tires did you get? I’d appreciate specs and brand. I’m being offered Nankang tires by the shop because they’re distributors, but not necessarily limited to it.

214s on X5

Why do you have to bore out the rims? I bought a set of the 214 rims and they fit perfectly with no boring. Just curious.

Thanks

I’m getting them from an X6, so not an exact fit. I believe it’s the same situation with X5M wheels to a non-M e70.

214s on X5

Ok. I have a friend who got the 215 wheels from an X6 and they were directing bolted on his E70. Still seems odd. I guess do what you have to do.
Thanks
