How does one identify if they have the un-bakeable headlight. Is it a specific part number are there any tell tale markings?

On the top of the headlights is a dial that indicates the date of manufacturing. If it's a 2003 it's "un-bakable"

Thanks... off to the garage...

(flashlight on)... looking... YES 12/02!!! Looking at the other... looking... DA@#!!! 1/03! Am I screwed, could the cut off have come that suddenly? Is there anything else to look for on the 1/03 light that would let me know?

PS "bakable"??? really... I thought it was an imaginary X5 word

Be careful, even though it says 12/02 your car is technically an 03 with most likely all of the 03 updates.

I would be leary about either of them being openable. Both would be in the 2003 production run. My guess is the cutoff is likely closer to the 9/02 timeframe.

I see what you mean. Okay let's say I have the non-bake version and I were to heat them in the oven at 250 degree for 15 minutes, would that damage them or would they just fail to open?

It shouldn't damage them. Give it a shot and see what happens. Be sure to follow the guide on this carefully so as not to damage anything.

If you put some seasoning on them, they are going to come out tasting really good.

Good luck if you try this, keep us posted!

if this is your 1st time baking the lights i would recomend using the pot holders to handle the lights there are certian areas that dont get as hot that are ok to touch with bare hands and other spots that well fcuking hurt.

also remove the 3 screws on the headlights by the turn signal b4 u put it in the oven. once the light is out of the oven work quickly and DONT touch the glue with bare hands its sticks and is very hot.

good luck
