BMW considering production of 3 and 5-series at Spartanburg

To meet the demands of North American market and compete on cost, BMW is considering production of 3-series nad 5-series at the Spartanburg plant as per sales and marketing chief Ian Robertson at the Auto Show in Detroit. Although there is no concrete plans, but "I would not rule it out," said the manager. For the foreseeable future, America remains the largest market for luxury car manufacturers. BMW is already strongly rooted there even now.

Volkswagen, Mercedes and Audi are also considering a production directly in North America or have already begun. Mercedes has announced a few months ago about finishing the C-Class for the U.S. market to continue in the Tuscaloosa, Alabama plant.
