Test drove E92 335i Coupé today
I test drove a Space Gray/Coral 335i Sport with 6 speed manual transmission and it was nice, very nice. The car is nowhere near broken in either and it was very fast, very torquey, responsive, and sounded great. I was kind of blown away by the acceleration and the growl that comes with it. I had to pass a couple of people as they were impeding my fun and without a downshift the car just shot away. Incidentally, it was probably 104 degrees today too and it didn't seem to affect the turbos. Downshifts would be so fun because the pedals are perfectly placed for heel-toe although the gearbox felt a little notchy to me. The power and speed are just amazing in this car and with excellent fuel economy to boot. As an E90 330i guy, I was a little saddened to think that the 330i doesn't perform that well but it's all relative. The E90 330i is no slouch and I'm certainly not rushing out to trade for a 335i. But having that perspective, the 335 is that much more impressive. Also, I only have 2600 miles on my E90 that I picked up on June 10th so I don't drive it much anyway. But when my lease is up, who knows.... Looks wise, the Space Gray/Coral combo with dark gray poplar looked very sporty while still being elegant. The Coral interior is a darker more brown red than Imola Nappa is. It's still very red but with the grain of the new leather, it's more subdued than Imola. (Sorry, no digicam with me.) There was a Jet Black E92 328i there without Sport and it looked kind of plain to me. I think color will greatly affect how this car appears. In fact, the black one looked a little Honda Accord Coupe-like. While I was at the dealer, a guy I know pulled up to look at E46 M3's and he went with me on the test of the 335i and I think he's now looking at that instead of the M3. Hey, the performance is the same and it's a newer design with more comfort. I give the E92

Phat!
Nothing but good reviews on that car so far...can't wait to see what the M3 evolution turns out to be.

I saw them sitting in the lot this morning when I was dropping off the X, once they hype is over I might have to look at one careful. I am still probably going to just upgrade my E46 to an 06 330 cab, the deals the dealers are offering are nice and my local deal has about 20 that he will be eager to move.

Since you're in San Mateo, why don't you join up with the NorCal caravan to WestFest IV? There are 3 or 4 of them so far leaving from the East Bay.
