M5/M6 V10 to bump up power

Has anyone else heard that the the 2008 V10 will have its power bumped 30hp to 50hp. Its been said on M3 post for a while but I just saw it somewhere else. Then when I was testing the E70 at the dealer my guy at the dealer said they might but its not definate. Im thinking the M3 might be faster than the current M5/6 because it needs to beat the C63 and RS4 and BMW wants the M5/6 at least just as fast as the M3 just like the E39 and E46 had identcal exceleration times till about 100mph. Does anyone know for sure what is going on or have read anything similar?

Someone posted a while back at how constricted the E60's exhaust system was.

I would not put it past BMW to bump up the HP from 507 to around 550+. Especially considering you've got the RS6 coming out soon as-well as the recently released E63 AMG.

Hmm, The rumor I keep hearing/reading about is that the M6 CSL was going to get the tweaked engine. Maybe a change of plan since the competitors have come on so strong?

Makes more sense (to me at least). The M6 has such a limited market, creating CSL's would be crazy - would there even be such a market for such a car? People looking for more performance over comfort in that bracket are probably shopping Porsche's at that price range...

I heard that about the exhaust too. But I heard most of the power increase was coming from brand new software tuning only. But my guess would be a new cam profile to. But maybe it is direct injection doing it. I cant wait to find out what the new M3 will end up with for HP. if its 450hp the M5/6 wil def have to bump hp. Now that I think of it I remeber reading that article about a CSL M6 having 550hp V10 so it must already have been in the works. I really think BMW has no choice with the New E63 and RS4 both out and pushing more hp and alot more torque. BMW has always been #1 as far as performace so I dought they will let audi and MB kill them. The RS4 is supposed to have TT 5.2 V10. that things gotta have at least 520hp imo. I hope BMW does somthing about this.

LOL.. you guys are so behind. It's not from the exhaust although it is very restrictive. The power increase in 2008 is confirmed to be a displacement upgrade to the V10 to 5.5l. BTW.. the RS4 will NOT get a twin turbo V10. Don't know where you got that from...

Sorry o great one. We are not worthy

But seriously It hought it was just rumors about the M5. That is awesome that the M5 will be bumped to 5.5 liters. Im sure that will do wonders for the torque. But I wonder if the will have to lower the redline due to larger diplacement. I hope not. If the M5 goes to 550 or 575hp for sure I will definately get one no dought about it.

So Josh since it is true that the M5/6 is getting a big bump in power, is it also true that the M3 will have 450hp or more. It sounds believable now since I know for sure the V10 is getting an increase. What have you heard of the M3 power ratings?

As far as the twin turbo V10 in the RS6 I forgot what magazine it was in but it was a reputable one. And they had an article on the S6 and in that article it specifically said the RS6 will have a low pressure twin turbo version of the S6 motor. If you dont think it is true what have you heard it is going to have?
