that's my guess, from the new 7-Series....

The 535xi and the 550i are pretty close in acceleration times. The 535i may be "quicker" but the 550i is "faster".

New bi-turbo engine is amazing, 535i chiptuned + exhaust should outperform 550i. I can’t wait for bi-turbo X5.

535i already out accelerates a 550i stock...(link).
Not too sure about highway passing, though(compared to the 550)

(Oh, btw, the '08 5-Series models are already out...so if it would happen, it would be '09 or '10.

Based on the facts of new BMW Turbo technology 4.4i bi-turbo V8 should be very close to M/// V10 performance, moreover chip-tuned I think it should outperform current M/// V10 engine. Now BMW have do decide how to keep M customers happy.
