Bimmer #4 to the stable...

I bought another CPO Bimmer last weekend which I hadn't announced here since I haven't had time to take pictures. Long story short, wife's '99 328i took a rock to the windshield on the 605 freeway near Irwindale (a common occurrence because of proximity to the gravel pits).

Anyways, I told her to buy a new car as her old car needs to go in for a for a makeover (car is getting gifted to son #2 next month anyways).

So on Monday, her day off, she goes to look while I'm at work. So I tell her, if you're going to buy anything, get an '07 328i. Wife ends up rejecting the '07 328i ($37K Premium and Xenon only) and selects an '04 330ci ($28.5K Sports, Premium, fully loaded except Nav, 30K miles) I go to the dealer after work to take a look; the car is exceptionally clean (TiAg and grey interior). The car is absolutely spotless; service history is clean (purchased from Irvine BMW). The old mounts for her Garmin and the iceLink from her old 328i fits in the new 330ci, of course.

She even paid for it which was the best part. The choice between the 328i and 330ci wasn't that much of an issue. She had already made up her mind that she wanted another E46.

Yeah, yeah, I know. Where are the pix.... They will be forthcoming. My wife and I no longer share common days off. It's going to be hard to pin her down.

I did find out something interesting. The cost of the BMW Maintenance Program extension from 50K to 100K miles just jumped up to $2500 effective June 1. I added the ryder knowing that her car would see alot of miles. However, the Finance Manager said that there are rumblings that BMW might kill the add-on Maintenance program at some point within the next year or two and eventually it might end the 4year/50K Maintenance program offering, instead replacing it as a option at time of purchase. Reason according to the FM, people don't buy Bimmers for the maintenance free plan. No other luxury auto makers are following BMW's lead.

He advised me that if I wanted to take on the maintenance free program on my '06 530xiT, I should do it soon in case the program disappears. Originally, my plan was to add it prior to surpassing 50K, especially with my history of not keeping cars very long.

I might do it if he sells me the program at the old price ($1895). Still thinking about it.
