Interesting observations:

On bmwusa.com, Sparkling Graphite is NOT offered on the sedan and M-DCT is NOT offered as an option on the sedan. Are those mistakes/oversights? Seems strange to me.

Jerez Black is the bomb color though!

M-DCT is not available on sedan at this time. Per previously issued "the M3 Sedan will not feature BMW’s new paddle-shifted dual-clutch DSG-style gearbox, aka M-DCT, offering only a six-speed manual instead. It’s astounding that BMW is not going to offer any sort of automatic transmission option at launch, considering the saloon is aimed at moving people not just in speed, but comfort."

What magazine is this from? BMW should'nt ever offer an automatic (tq converter, et al) in an M car. Dunno why anyone would expect one. The E39 M5 didn't have one either. High-power automatic vehicles are for the wusses that drive MB's and Lexus'.

Thanks for the info. I think it's silly to delay it. What kind of technical issue would there be that would cause this? If anything, they should have delayed it for the coupe. Just my $0.02.

Sorry Vin, but that's the way of the world now. They have to have a high-tech transmission or else they'd get left behind. Doesn't everybody want to shift like Schummi? :p There is an expectation that BMW have a superior semi-auto option. Hopefully M-DCT is as much of an improvement over SMG II as it is supposed to be. Also, the semi-auto type transmissions are getting better and better, to the point where they shift better than the majority of drivers can.

You're right, it is an unfortunate reality. People who buy BMW's are paying for the experience, and more over with an M car. Having a computer+hydaulics shift for you removes you from that experience if anything. We drive on the street to enjoy ourselves, not to win races.

And I hope they don't produce as many M3's as Civic Si's this time.

Jerez Black/Fox Red reminds me our of E46 M3 color combo which has Carbon Black/Cinnamon.....I do agree, from the pics, the color combo look stunning!
