Anyone See The New Rear Seat DVD For 7 Series...

All I can say is 9", and looks nicely fit.

yeah I was going to start a thread about this... it may not be eye level but it can also help to avoid glare? It's a good-looking alternative to putting them in the headrests though.

Thats what I was thinking. I'll give it sometime and then see if these can be bought from the dealer and then installed into the comfort seat - see no reason why - just get the right color, mount to rear plastic portion of seat cover and then wire to the existing rear Seat DVD for video signal). Sounds like an interesting mod....

The wiring may not be as simple as it sounds. The new 7 has the new i-drive, so I would think the wiring will be compatible with the E70 once it also gets the new i-drive and associated components. Mind you the X5 has a very similar OEM accessory option already available, although not quite as nice...

Haven't had any experience with the new I-drive, but from the current, I can say I-drive has nothing to do with the video system. All it does is switch the audio from the rear DVD player so it can be played through the vehicle speakers. Having said that, all we're interested in is power to the monitors and the input of a video signal coming from the rear DVD drive or whatever source you may have. The X5 setup looks horrible (the ones that stick out from the back seats) and the Invision system still takes a little getting use to as I prefer the integrated look.

They do look very nice but I can only imagine how much those would cost from BMW as parts.

Here in Canada, the X5 'rear entertainment system' which folds over the armrest is a $1900 option. I just bought a Samsung 40" hi-def 1080p LCD TV for $1500!

Are you going to mount the 40" from the roof in the center or bolt it to the 2 headrests? Either way it might impact rearward vision a little.

A very clean look, I must say. It meshes extremely well.
