Rust- what's considered normal?
Yesterday, I changed the 2006 325i back to its summer wheels and tires, and did the usual inspection of suspension and underbody components. In the past, I've noticed rust in quite a few components, much more than on my X3. I took some pics of the two more-seriously rusted struts (?). Would this be covered under the Corrosion Warranty? Or is this considered normal wear-and-tear? It looks like the short plastic boot (sport suspension) isn't really doing its job. The pic was taken with the vehicle raised- of course.
Now, I know that rust on certain parts of the vehicle are inevitable like the wheel hubs and rotors, especially on a CPO 3er that spent its first year in Ohio as a fleet vehicle. But it seems quite a bit worse on this car than on the much-older X3. |
