2007 328iA sludge

My Wife went out yesterday and came back with a 110k 328i.

It is for our Daughter that has thrashed her 06 Mazda 6 that was at best worth 3k, they gave 5500 and we paid 5k out the door.

It runs ok except for an intermittent drop/surge in idle sitting at lights about a minute apart.

The dash shows -12000 when starting, which I assume means it needed it's service 12k+ ago?

It came from a dealer and I can unwind the deal what do you guys think?

several hot oil changes, back to back, engine flush, seafoam, maybe some diesel fuel - this engine needs some loving... if you don't want to get involved - unwind the deal...

if the paid price sits well with you and you want to breathe new lease on life into the engine - keep it...

how about other components? the cooling system? the suspension? the electronics? tranny?

The rest us ok, main beams don't work, has no spare nor run flats, back window needs to be pushed once opened, after I did that door won't open (not telling them I r&rd the door) I am thrilled with 5500 as the Mazda was a mess)

Not as thrilled as the dealer was to get 5500 for it.

Looks pretty rough. Can you do major engine work yourself? If not, dump it IMO.

I have no intention of wrenching on this motor, although I am capable.

the dealer gave 5500 for a thrashed 80k+ 2006 Mazda 6 (6cyl), a car I would have been stuck with, I gave the Mazda & 5k Tax, License & registration paid out the door, so about 8k total for this 328.

My plan is to take it back, ask them to perform the service needed to clean the motor & a 1 year 12k warranty on the motor and anything this sludge being belched through the system damages (egr, 02 sensors, cats, exhausts ect.

They most likely will say no, I will take back the Mazda & walk.

I would back out of that deal personally.

Trying to flush that much sludge out of a motor could plug your oil pick-up screen and toast the engine.

Not to mention the other problems you mentioned...you may be able to do the work but parts are not inexpensive.

He agreed to do all the work and give us a 12 month 12k warranty on the motor & anything barfing the sludge out might damage.

Here is the INPA error scan.
