Just watched the video again and noticed that. Thanks for pointing it out.

Nope, its auto. Watch how the tranny switches gears while both of his hands are on the steering wheel.

He probably had it in sport mode so it will shift automatically at redline or he can control it himself with the gear stick.

Nice vid. Too bad no paddles. That would be great. doesn't the X6 have paddles?

Agent palbay posted new spy-videos in the X5 ///M spy shots thread...in the first clip, when the driver stops in front of palbay, he guns it and there sounds like a delay from 1st to second gear...characteristics of a manual or perhaps a steptronic . Either way...we'll know soon enough.

My new 09 X5 4.8i M sport looks exactly like the interior of the X5 in the video. Unless the one in the video has the new iDrive, im pretty sure it is. Also, from the outside, it looks the same except the rims, I have different M rims.
I don't know anything about engines, but that might be the only difference if any.

There will be a number of different interior and exterior styling from your 4.8i M sport. What comes to mind are the front and rear bumper, tailpipes, the ///M side gills and possibly larger fender flares. Oh and let's not forget the exhaust note ...it will definitely look much more aggressive.

When is this new M X5 supposed to come out? I thought the only thing I would miss by getting my car now is the new iDrive. Now your telling me that its pretty much an entirely re-designed X5? Guess I will be trading in soon

It's not entirely re-designed...it's an official ///M, so it should have all the options you have as base...and on top of that, some real goodies. I believe it may also have the new BMW performance ceramic big-brakes. There should be a press release within the next 4-6 months and it should be revealed at 2009 auto shows...should hit the market by late 2009. Member LeMansX5 is good at keeping us posted on it's developments.

I'm assuming the TT V8 has to make its way over as well. Or at least that was a big part of the rumour mill.....

It will be a TTV8 with ~550hp and will be the most powerful ///M production thus far. I believe Porsche bumped up the Pepper Turbo S to 550 for 2009 so the German HP battle continues but this time, the Bavarians lead the pack with a more carbon-friendly performance design.
