Glad you okay man, the car can be replaced you cannot. That happened to me in my car on the atlantic city expressway, a few years ago a piece of 2x4 fell off a truck and stuck in my bumper. Just be thankful that you are still here.

I had that exact same thing happen to me in a 1998 Grand Cherokee 5.9

Was cruising home from a snowmobiling weekend following my buddy with his enclosed trailer.

A chunk of snow/ice came off the top and landed square in front of my face, right in the windshield.

Thankfully it didn't come through the glass or damage the paint, but there were shards all over the interior and it scared the shit out of me.

I ended up putting on my helmet and driving home with my head out the window lol

I had a marble slab about 2-3in thick and 24x24in fly off a truck and hit my Denali's windshield while I was driving around 100mph on the highway. Luckily it did not damage the windshield but at the force it hit, it freaked me out. I am glad that I was able to keep control after it hit.

There is a similar thread on a german BMW X Forum, a guy had a similar experience on the Autobahn. He was still able to press the SOS button and to call for help while he was still driving, it must have been a pretty scary experience.

In Germany, truck drivers are responsible for ice on their truck, if something happens, their insurance needs to pay. Don't know how the law is in the US ?!

Doubt we have anything about ice...but on toll roads the trailers need to be of a certain height. They are required to clean their trailers of accumulated snow if it exceeds height requirements
