Secondary USB input (glove box)

Is there a USB input in the glove box as well?
Can you install an Ipod using that vs. using the input in the center console?

Benefits and disadvantages?

Or is that USB input designed for something else?

The manual said that the USB input in the glove box is only for data transfer. It doesn't have the capability to play music.
