X6M carbon black / side gills

Hi again,

Well, decided to do the jump a couple of weeks ago. As so many people pointed out earlier, there are quite allot of differences between the E70 and E71 - but I`m happy with the change and even happier with the engine. After over 50,000kms with the E70, she was sold to make way for the X6-carbon black/silverstone/piano black. I have always had a liking for dark blue, and having initially looked into Monte Carlo-was too light colored imo, we took this color. It is pretty amazing, has subtle hints of what reminds me of Orient Blue (available on the previous 3 series) combined with black. Anyway, love the engine rumble, handling and enormous energy reserve. This is certainly no M3, however for those of us who were dreaming of having an M-engined-X, it certainly fills the void. Hardwired the V1 last night ( a BIG thank you to X5Mod who posted recently on this) with the concealed display and it is working smoothly. And her clear bra is looking hot!

Happy holidays to everyone.

Cheers,

Congrats! If you don't need the extra room in the back, then X6 M is the way to go.

Dark chrome side gills installed

Side gills on board, here are a few photos. Just to help those with the X6M, you need to elevate the side gill from the anterior portion, and then work your way towards the door. Elevate using a small flat screwdriver, then insert a flat instrument (covered in insulation tape to prevent scratching the color-coded trim) and slowly pry out each clip (2 at the front, and 6 at the other end), push a small towel between the gill and the trim as you elevate it, cause otherwise the curved portion of the gill hits the trim. Don't loose the wiring harness when you remove the cip, and check that it is working properly before clipping the new side gill in place. Big thanks to Nate @ IND for the parts.

Cheers,

Looks great. Love the color combo. Thanks for the info on the side markers. I have ordered mine from IND (from your suggestion).

M

PS. You might want to take your car back to BMW. They put the steering wheel on the wrong side.

Thanks - these were initially horrible to take off, was worried about damaging the color trim, I suspect the X5Ms will be much easier to remove. Also, the black LEDs were too tinted IMO, so I kept the stock clear LEDS, matches the clear lights.

Cheers,

Are they an OE BMW part or aftermarket?
