Ordered my 2011 X5 M!
Carbon Black Black Full Perforated Leather Carbon Leather Trim Active Ventilated Seat Package Cold Weather Package Driver Assistance Package Premium Sound Package Power Tailgate Comfort Access Soft Close Doors High-Gloss Roof Rails $98,075 MSRP....I got it for $91,885....invoice is $90,385....What do we all think of that?? Of note is that 1 year of Sirius radio seems to be included in the premium sound package....don't think it was like that for MY2010, maybe I am wrong. Going to be leasing, payment for 36 months, 10k miles is $1300 (actually was $1312, but I put cap reduction money down so that I could pay less monthly and leave a smaller security deposits). I am doing 7 MSDs. Last edited by MFL101; 04-29-2010 at 10:26 PM. |

Nice. Welcome. Love the carbon black. I wish I had waited for the vent seats.
$500 over invoice is great. Are they running any deals on the money factor yet? That was the only reason I didn’t lease. And pictures please. |

^^^ BMW's MF is lower than other /// competition from Porsche or Mercedes.
These are pretty recent: 2010 ML63: 36-month | 15k miles | residual 46% | .00330 base money factor 2010 CTTS: 36-month | 15k miles | residual 42% | .00320 base money factor vs 2010 X5M: 36-month | 15k miles | residual 52% | .00225 base money factor Residual and MF are a lot better with BMW. If you don't need the 555hp, the 4.8is is a lot better lease vehicle.

I mixed up the numbers...I actually got it for $1,500 over invoice! Which is over $7,000 off MSRP.
MSDs...you leave up to 7 extra security deposits...each one lowers the MF by .00007. A great deal actually! Pictures when I pick it up in April/May! Last edited by MFL101; 03-05-2010 at 12:06 PM. |

MF of .00225 = 5.4% not too bad. When I was looking in Decmeber it was not that low. I was able to buy the car at 3.18% thru my bank. Plus the number of miles I drive I decided to buy this time instead of lease. Leasing no longer has a tax benefit for me either. |

Does each security deposit reduce the money factor by the same amount? When I recently leased a 335 for my wife, the first security deposit was the greatest reduction. Subsequent security deposits reduced it by less. When I ran the numbers, more than 1 was not worth it.
I know someone will ask, so here is the answer. It is easy to determine if security deposits are worth it. Simply divide the amount by which your payment goes down and by the amount you had to give them (lend them). That is your simple interest rate of return. You can get fancy and calculate a compounded rate of return if you like. Bottom line is that if you don't need the security deposit money and the rate of return is better than you could get in the market, then make the security deposit. In the case of my wife's car the first security deposit had a ROR of around 21%. Subsequent security deposits had a ROR of around 2%. I kept my money and only made one deposit. |

Each deposit drops the MF .00007. For a possible total reduction of .00049. So, .00225 ---> .00176. Not bad on a $92k selling price...I think the ROR is always around 18-22%...which is better than the market for sure (and guranteed)! At least for the next 3 years pobably.
