How's It For a Daily Driver

I'm very close to pulling the trigger on an M this weekend and your opinions on how the X5M is as a daily driver are greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, most of my driving is city.

TIA

Seems like a waste to me unless you plan on taking it on some spirited drives away from town on a frequent basis. Owning an M and doing nothing but sit in traffic is likebuying a thouroughbred to watch it eat grass. I guess if money is no object then sure, go for it.

I use mine as a daily driver and I think its great. No issues at all....except for perhaps having to fill the tank a bit too often (a bigger gas tank would have been nice). I do about 50:50 city:highway. Go ahead and pull it .. its a fun car.

I have 6500 miles on mine. It's my 3rd X5. It does fine as a daily ride, but really excels on the highway. I'm glad I got it.

It is an awesome daily but like someone said might be a waste if your drive is just city

I agree regarding the waste, but it's not all city. Regular short (20-40 minutes) highway rides on the weekends and at least one 2 hour drive a month.

A great daily driver. Very livable. I run down to Chicago quite a bit and it is terrific in the city. I agree, if you are just sitting in traffic then it is worthless. But even driving around Chicago it is a blast. It leaves stoplights like you are being shot from a cannon. And it has a button for “insta merge”, you press it with your right foot. J

yep leave it in D with m-mode off and it's just a nice smooth cruiser. slightly stiffer than a regular X5/6 but I only noticed it the veru first time I went for a ride in one.

switch to manual shift and you can even have a little bit of fun around town while staying (mostly) within the limit

it's definitely a dual-mode vehicle, my advice is don't hesitate any further

Have you driven the 2011 X5 50? That new motor in the E70 is awesome. I'll be in the market at the end of summer and will have a hard time justifying the extra $$$ for the M.... Although I'll likely get it as I'm coming out of an E60 M5 and am used to the speed.

Do yourself a favor and drive the 50....
