Talking OMG!!! Fuel mileage alMost doubled!

Ours just turned 10,000 miles and at just over 10mpg we were not impressed with the mpg. Almost to the mile after hitting 10k our M started saying 18-20 mpg on the dash so I checked it on the last tank and the calculator gave it 17.4!

Hum..... I wonder if it's a break in procedure? Did you look in your owners manual?

10ish' mpg = sports, M mode. 17mpg = grandpa mode.

how do you drive it? I had 22k miles on my 2010 M and it never changed...

I thought my mpg changed but then I realised I was reading the average speed number

Reads like "new math" or, funny arithmetic...but, glad the OP got off the 10 mpg.
Hard to understand "10 mpg", and doubt it "improved" that much overnight.

I've been driving our '02 Vette, as a daily driver, for the past several weeks: lots of trips up and down our 4 mile mtn road, errands in town, etc.,
and a few ballz out rip runs up on the BlueRidgePkway; last tank gave 19.2 mpg.

Must be the avoirdupois of the X/M?

F Cars do better than "10".
