A bit surprised that the OP is jumping another one, with his complaints on current E70...helluva car for a kid: safe, tank-like, but that HP is just bubbling there, like the debbil's stew, asking to be tasted.

Have you checked this board??? While few and far between relative to the number produced, there are a few who have had to return the vehicles with BMW's help due to engine malfunctions, stone chip issues (make sure the X's is 3M'd), and then just the usual E70 anomolies...

Don't get me wrong, I loved my E70, but seeing as you've had your issues with one, I'm surpirsed you're asking this question!

Plastic shrouding on the back of the engine bay has melted once, smells likes its melting already again. Rear diff carrier bolts backed off and my diff dropped and was left only attached to the two axles and drive shaft. This caused damage to both axles, and destroyed my exhaust which was replaced under warranty. Eats gas likes a pig, makes me smile everyday, faster than your average bear and the utility is off the charts!! lol well not totally but its a great work vehicle for me
